DILI, 18 september 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste, today, records 51 new cases, 81 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.888.
Of the new cases, 25 were reported in Dili, while the rest were detected in the municipalities, including five in Bobonaro, four each in Ainaro, Baucau, Lautem, Manufahi, and Viqueque, and one in Liquica.
The spokesperson of SIJK, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said 60.7 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic.
Araujo informed 18 percent of the new cases are fully vaccinated citizens, while six percent had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccines.
He said among the new cases, 35 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including 11 cases under 20 and six elderly persons over 60. These new cases were made up of 28 men and 23 women.
Araujo informed that 63 cases had been admitted to Vera Cruz Isolation Center, Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV), Lahane Hospital, and other isolation centers across the territory for intensive treatment, with nine people in critical condition, five of whom required ventilation.
In the last 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 197 PCR tests, including 24 sentinel surveillance tests, eight through contact tracing, 50 via random screening, 94 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, and 21 in quarantines.
The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 6.6 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Dili 13.8, RAEOA 12.5, Baucau 7.0 and Lautem 6.8.
The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.
Health authorities had warned that the Delta variant has already spread in the communities, calling on citizens over 18 to get vaccinated: “Vaccination is the only way to combat the Covid-19.”
There has been a total of 18.994 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 17.003 recoveries, active cases were 1.888, and 103 deaths, according to SIJK’s data.
In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 55.3 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 32.4 percent have also received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
