DILI, september 24, 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Health (MS) and international development partners today discussed the maternal and child nutrition program in Timor-Leste.
“We are proud to provide budget support to the Ministry of Health to address the problem of malnutrition. Therefore, cooperation between Timor-Leste and international partners is important”, said the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Timor-Leste, Andrew Jacobs, after the meeting, in MS, in Caicoli.
The Minister of Health, Odete Belo, also recalled that the Government and partners annually discuss previous activities related to the malnutrition program.
The meeting was organized by the EU and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. It was attended by, among others, the Ambassador of Portugal in Dili, as well as development partners such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
It is recalled that the EU supported with USD 5.6 million, through UNICEF, the improvement of nutrition services, with a focus on the prevention and management of the most common diseases, food diversification, behavior changes, as well as preparation of meals by mothers.
