DILI, 29 september 2021 ( TATOLI) – Thailand has donated a US$2900 grant to Alola Foundation to empowering women entrepreneurs to develop their businesses.
The fund was straightly donated by the Royal Thai Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Ekapol Poolpipat to the Alola Foundation at the Thailand Embassy Farol Dili.
“The fund provided by Thailand is 2900.00 USD, despite it is a small amount of donation, but Thailand is dedicated to continue support Alola Foundation under the program of “development and strengthen the economy of vulnerable trough women and children,” Ambassador Ekapol Poolpipat told the media after the donation event in Farol Dili.
At the same place the Internal Director of Alola Foundation, Jose Sabino Ximenes appreciates the donation fund from the Thailand Embassy saying, the fund will offer the market space for the group of women to promote their product through the Alola Festival.
“We will manage the fund to empower women in their businesses,” said Ximenes
Ximenes said that the Foundation had identified 60 women involving in the small business group in Timor-Leste, to provide the business training on how to manage their business.
He added that Alola Foundation will also facilitate them to promote their products at the Alola foundation exhibitions held in December.
Alola is a not-for-profit non-governmental organization operating in Timor- Leste to improve the lives of women and children. Founded in 2001 by the First Lady, Ms. Kirsty Sword Gusmao, the organization seeks to nurture women leaders and advocate for the rights of women.
Alola Foundation has been running several programs that benefited the community such as the Education program, Maternal and Child Health program, Economy development program, and Advocacy program.
