Covid-19 update: TL records 18 new cases, 34 recoveries

DILI, 08 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded 18 new COVID-19 cases, 34 recoveries, and the active cases dropped to 279, Rui Maria de Araujo Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK) says.

According to today’s figure, nine new cases were detected in Dili, two each in Bobonaro, Covalima, RAEOA, and Viqueque, and one in Baucau.

Araujo said six percent of the new cases had received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while six percent are fully vaccinated. These new cases include 10 men and eight women.

Of the new cases, 13 were between the ages of 12 and 59, including a case under 20 and four elderly persons over 60.

Araujo said 61.1 percent of today’s cases were symptomatic.

There are 22 people with COVID-19 in hospital and three of those are in critical condition, with two on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 70 PCR tests, including seven through contact tracing, 60 through random screening, and three in quarantines.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.651 cases, 19.253 recoveries, and 119 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 63.4 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 40 percent have been fully vaccinated.
