Overseas voter’s registration records 367 voters in the system

DILI, 14 october 2021 (TATOLI)-Director of the Technical Secretariat of Election Organizers (STAE), Acilino Manuel Branco today announced that the overseas voter’s registration team has recorded 367 people in the registration system.

“Our team had registered around 367 people in the system, of the number 292 voters in Korea, 55 in England and Portugal registered 20 votes we still don’t know how many more will come, since the registration is ongoing,” Acilino told reporters in the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC), Pantai Kelapa on thursday.

He said the team of voter registration is composed of 34 members, eight are from STAE, 12 from MoFAC, eight from CNE, and six from MoJ.

Speaking to Journalist The Director-General of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), Acilino Manuel Branco said, Australia is currently under lockdown, saying, therefore, the designated team for Australia will have to wait until the flight operation to Australia is available: “Of the four countries we have sent our team to three countries and the designated team for Australia will have to wait until the flight operation to Australia is available,” 

The Director-General of Protocol and Consular Affairs of MoFAC, José António Amorim Dias explained, MNEC coordinates with the Embassy in four countries to facilitate the team to complete the registrations.

“MoFAC has been coordinating with the Embassies to carry out the registration process effectively with the purpose to involve all the participants to join the 2022 presidential election and 2023 parliamentary election,” he said.
