Covid-19 Update: TL records 7 new cases, 3 recoveries

DILI, 27 october 2021 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded seven new COVID-19 cases, three recoveries, and the active cases were 56, said Rui Maria de Araujo, the Coordinator of the Integrated Crisis Management Center (SIJK).

According to today’s figure, six of the new cases were detected in capital Dili, and one was identified in Baucau.

These new cases are made up of two men and five women, adding 57 percent were symptomatic.

Araujo said two of the newly detected cases were between the ages of 12 and 59, including five cases under 20.

There are five people with COVID-19 in hospital, one of those is in critical condition and requires ventilation.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 237 PCR tests, including 35 via contact tracing, 193 through random screening, eight for the international travel authorization, and one in quarantine.

The SIJK kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.785 cases, 19.608 recoveries, 121 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible groups, 72.1 percent had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 46.9 percent have been fully vaccinated.
