National Parliament approves US$ 14.6 m for its 2022 budget

DILI, 06 december 2021 (TATOLI) – The National Parliament (PN) approved its proposal of the 2022 General State Budget (OGE) in the specialty, totaling 14.604.224.

The approved budget would fund five programs, nine sub-programs, and 32 activities.

In the specialty discussion, the Parliament’s budget proposal was approved with 41 votes in favor, zero against, and 17 abstentions.

“The proposal of the GSB for 2022 of the National Parliament was approved in the specialty,” the President of the National Parliament, Aniceto Guterres, announced at the National Parliament, on Monday.

Next year, Parliaments will allocate US$7.853.290 to the program called ensuring institutional functions, US$331.575 to promote a culture of parliamentary openness and transparency program, US$1.235.259 to foster parliament’s international relations and cooperation, and US$5.133.998 for good governance and institutional management, as well as US$50.102 for gender equality and social inclusion.

Parliament has a total of 268 permanent employees, of which 89 were women with 25 holding managerial and leadership positions.

As one of the State Organs of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the National Parliament is the representative of the people to make laws and holds the Government to account for its policies, actions, and spending.
