DILI, 4 december 2021 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo promulgated the General State Budget (OGE) for 2022 Fiscal Year, totaling US$2.17 billion.
The Government presented the 2022 State Budget proposal to the National Parliament, on october 15, with an amount of US$1.675 billion.
The parliament approved 100 new proposals during the specialty discussion of the GSB. So, the budget went up to US$2.17 billion, which was approved by the National Parliament.
“The Head of State has the constitutional power to promulgate Diploma No. 55/V, decreed by the National Parliament on december 16,” said the statement.
The 2022 GSB was promulgated by the Head of State, after final overall appreciation and approval by the National Parliament, with 44 votes in favor.
The 2022 GSB would come into effect on the next day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
The 2022 State Budget includes revenues and expenses of the State, autonomous funds and services, as well as the social security budget.
The US$ 2.17 billion would be allocated to six priority programs – human capital development, including education, vocational training, and health; housing and social inclusion; the productive sector, especially agriculture, tourism, environment, and connectivity; private and cooperative sector development; rural development; and, finally, good governance.
