DILI, january 10, 2022 (TATOLI)- The Secretary of State for the Environment (SSE) manages to reduce the Kreteks and Cirriform bags in supermarkets and restaurants, including Chinese stores.

The Secretary of State for the Environment (SSE), Demetrio Amaral, said that the policy of Zero plastic bags has been implemented and has significant progress in Timor – Leste.

“Many restaurants, supermarkets, and shops have stopped using kretek and Serriform plastic bags,” Amaral told Tatoli, at his office in Bebora, Dili today.

He said that SSE has also a role to fight environmental pollution such as atmospheric, liquid, and soil to ensure a healthy environment.

SSE in collaboration with the National Direction of Climate change continues to promote the reduction of gas pollution, by reducing air conditioning (AC) in vehicles and refrigerators to reduce damage to the ozone layer. In addition, SSE is currently collecting waste oil that was wasted due to industrial activities and disposed of in Tibar to ensure public health in Timor – Leste.

The content of the garbage that has the possibility of poisonous chemical material has come from plastic bags, but the Government has a policy in partnership with customs to avoid the importation of plastic bags.
