DILI, 14 january 2022 (TATOLI) – The ASSA Foundation (AF) and Hospital National of Guido Valadares (HNGV) today awarded certificates to 29 HNGV medical professionals who have completed a 3-month Pre-Intermediate English for Health course at HNGV.
National Director of Bilateral Cooperation and Policy Narciso Fernandes from the Ministry of Health (MoH) appreciated the efforts of HNGV and AF by providing English courses for the medical team.
“English for Health is important for medical personnel because Timor-Leste is currently adapting to technological advances including English, therefore we must adapt to today’s world so as not to be left behind,”
The course helps Health to have effective communication with foreign patients and helps them to participate in scholarship programs provided by the Ministry of Health.
“I hope this course will help Medical Professionals in communication with foreign patients and at the same time help them to continue their Health Education abroad, therefore on behalf of the Government Ministry of Health, I express my highest appreciation to AF and HNGV for their close cooperation in providing English language courses for HNGV medical. staff,” said Fernandes.
ASSA Foundation Executive Director Bendito Kay ASSA Soares informed that ASSA Foundation has been working closely with National Hospital Guido Valadare (HNGV) for one year in providing English Courses for medical personnel at HNGV.
“We have cooperated with HNGV in 2020 since AF was founded, our mission is to provide English language courses for participants for certain areas or certain courses with our Special English program, we have been trusted by HNGV to offer courses to medical staff to understand health terminology in English,”
AF is very proud that the English for Health they learned for three months from September to December 2021 has benefited them.
“This course will be continued for HNGV medical staff who have not had the opportunity to attend the course. AF is ready to facilitate the English for Health Course in the next stage,”
