TL provides 3.1 million to conduct a population census in September 2022

DILI, 18 january 2021 (TATOLI)—The Government’s Ministry of Finance has placed 3.1 million people for the September 2022 population census.

The program aims to identify the current population through September 2022.

“This year The Directorate General of Statistics of the Ministry of Finance will conduct a Population Census,” The Minister of Finance, Rui Gomes commented during the signing of a technical agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Industry, Bebora, Monday.

Director-General of Statistics of the Ministry of Finance Elias dos Santos Ferreira said that currently, the Government has provided funds of $3.1 million to be able to carry out the Population Census.

This Population Examination is only carried out in a month but the preparation itself will be carried out for three months.

“The plan is that the Population Census will be conducted from September 6 to October 6, 2022, and preparations will be made at the end of October. So, between March and May, recruitment will be carried out to be sent to the municipality,” said Elias.

He informed that in the 2022 Population Census, the Directorate General of Statistics of the Ministry of Finance will recruit 3,704 people to work in the census process.

“Everything will be allocated to the municipality and most importantly, interviews will be conducted in every village,” he explained.

According to the existing plan, three to seven people will be recruited in each tribe, depending on the area, the number of villages.

The enumeration will be carried out within one month, so it takes 3 months for the preparation process.

Previously, the TL Government had conducted a Population Census in 2015, and in 2019 an Agricultural Census was also conducted.
