DILI, 23 january 2022 (TATOLI) – The World Health Organization (WHO) provides larvicide, fumigation, and dengue test reagents for the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) in the fight against diseases in the country.
“We support the Ministry of Health with 350 boxes of larvicide products, 500 liters of fumigation, and 10,000 reagents for dengue fever tests,” said WHO Representative in Timor-Leste, Arvind Mathur, at the Novo Turismo Hotel, Dili.
According to Mr. Mathur, the organization has allocated around US$200,000 for product procurement as well as promotion of the dengue fever prevention campaign.
Mr. Mathur at the same time called on all citizens to clean their homes and surroundings to ensure the prevention of infectious diseases.
Previously, the Director-General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health, Odete Viegas, informed that WHO had provided support to the Ministry of Health to combat dengue fever.
“The team is preparing to distribute larvicide and fumigation products to areas that recorded the highest number of dengue cases. However, we focus our attention on Dili”, he stressed.
Mrs. Belo said that since January 5, more than 200 patients have been treated at the Vera Cruz Health Center.
Since the beginning of this year, the country recorded 713 cases of dengue with 16 deaths.
