FFTL begins to prepare the football team to participate in the Sea Games

DILI, 31 january 2022 (TATOLI)- Deputy Secretary General of the Federation of Football Timor–Leste (FFTL), Frederico Martins informed, the football team is starting to conduct the preparation to compete in the Regional Sea Games which will be held on may in Vietnam.

“We are conducting the preparation for the U-23 football team that will compete in the Sea Games. currently, the U-23 football team have no enough time to rest because they have just returned from the AFF CUP but they have to continue their football training to compete at the Sea Games in Vietnam on may,” the FFTL Deputy, Martins told Tatoli in his office of FFTL Bairo Formosa, Dili, today.

Martins added that the preparation of selection and training for the U -23 football team are maximal, therefore FFTL have contacted three countries such as Japan, Qatar and South Korea to conduct the friendships before participating in the Sea Games competition in Vietnam.

All of Timor – Leste’s U23 football competitions at the Sea Games, Vietnam will be funded by the Secretary of State for Sports and Youth (SSYS) and if the funding is not enough FFTL will add to run this competition successfully in Vietnam.

“All Funds from SSYS, we don’t know yet how much funds have been allocated to FFTL, because all funds from the Government are through the Confederação Desportiva Timor – Leste (CDTL) and then allocated to us,’’ Martins said.

Last week SSYS have allocated $81,000 to CDTL to be allocated to eight modalities that will participate in Sea Games. The eight modalities competing in the Vietnam Sea Games are: Taekwondo, Karate-do, Boxing, athlete, swimming, beach volleyball, football and Sky.
