TACCTL thanks the Government for appreciating Chinese New Year

DILI, 01 february 2022 (TATOLI)-In this year, 1 february is a Luna’s new year for Chinese communities around the world including Timor-Leste. Thus, Chinese communities trough the Trade Association of the Chinese Community of Timor-Leste (TACCTL)  celebrated with happiness since last two years has not been any celebration because the pandemic’s situation.

The President of TACCTL, Kathleen Gonçalves, thanks the Government of Timor – Leste through the Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak for considering Chinese New Year’s Day as a national holiday for Timor-Leste.

“On behalf of the Chinese community in Timor – Leste, I  thanked the Government for always deciding every Chinese New Year as a holiday, its shows that Timor-Leste also adheres to religious tolerance. We are very happy with Prime Minister Ruak’s decision. With this holiday we can gather together with the extended family of the Chinese community in Timor – Leste to reflect on the past and conduct the charity to the poor people who need the help in Timor – Leste,” Kathleen told reporters at Cina Maromak in Bairo Formosa, Dili, today.

Kathleen added that the Chinese Community in Timor-Leste always cooperates with the government in the trade aspect and from the trade proceeds we can contribute to the Government through paying the taxes to develop Timor – Leste in the future.
