DILI, 08 february 2022 (TATOLI) –The World Cup trophy will be delivered to Timor-Leste by the International Football Association (FIFA) before the journey to Qatar.
“I conveyed good news to Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak that FIFA will bring the Football World Cup to Timor-Leste before traveling to Qatar,” the FFTL’s president, Francisco Martins da Costa Pereira Jeronimo, the current Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Social Communication (MPASC), told reporters at Prime Minister Ruak’s Residence in Farol, Dili, today.
According to Jeronimo, FIFA will transport the World Cup Trophy in a special jet and land in Comoro’s Nicolau Lobato International Airport on June 10.
“I have been informed by FIFA‘s President that the Trophy will be stored at the office of the Timor-Leste Football Federation (FFTL) for eight hours,” Jeronimo said.
Jeronimo urged football fans in Timor-Leste to travel to Nicolau Lobato International Airport in Comoro to receive the Trophy, which will be paraded around Dili and accompanied by the Trophy for 8 hours in FFTL’s office before flying to Qatar, where the World Cup Football will be held in june 2022.
“I hope that soccer fans will see the Football World Cup physically; this is an honor for Timor-Leste because the Football World Cup can be brought to Timor-Leste to entertain football lovers in Timor-Leste,” Jeronimo hoped.
