DILI, 10 february, 2021 (TATOLI)- There are ten Timorese workers through Australia seasonal workers who have contributed to the country’s economic sustainability in Timor-Leste.
National Direction of exterior employed, Filomeno Soares said, based on Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE) researchers recorded that there are ten Timorese workers experienced working abroad who have contributed to economic sustainability in the country.
“After they have gained enough experience working in Australia. They are intended to create job opportunities in various jobs to contribute to the country’s economic sustainability,” National Direction of exterior employed, Filomeno Soares told TATOLI Agency, at STVJ Camea Becora, on this thursday.
He added that most of them focus on running the business, raising broilers, room rents, producing tofu and Tempe, and selling Timorese original coffee.
The coffee products business has been expanded to five countries composed of Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and America.
It shows the positive impact of economic sustainability for Timor-Leste country.
Mr. Soares revealed that the VIII government through SEFOPE has policies that empower young people to gain life skills. Therefore, workers should think about creating a job opportunity to improve the family economy.
It is recalled there are more than 800 Timorese workers working in Australia from 2021-to 2022. More than 1.000 seasonal workers have been returned to Timor-Leste and more than 300 workers are out of Australia’s working system.
Currently, SEFOPE is working to collect proper data on how many workers are running their own businesses, especially for those having experiences working overseas such as Australia and South Korea.
