DILI, 16 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The General Secretary of the Timor-Leste Olympic National Committee (CONTL), Laurentino Guterres, informed that this year Timor-Leste will participate in six international games.
International games such as, the Sea Games which will be held in May, the Olympic Winter Games have been held in China with the participation of Athlete Yohan Gonçalves from Sky modality, the Asian Games will be held in September in China, the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be held in the Philippines, Asian Youth Games and Asian Beach Games.
“We will participate on these games, from the six games Timor-Leste had already participated the Winter Olympics and will participate on the Sea Games in Vietnam in May, while other games Timor-Leste will also participate in the following months is coming,” General Secretary of CONTL, Laurentino Guterres told Tatoli at the CONTL‘s office, Colmera Dili, this wednesday.
To participate in these games, CONTL will coordinate with the Confederation of Sport of Timor-Leste (CDTL) to identify the modalities that have skills and are eligible to participate in the games.
“We have a little problem because the Government of Timor-Leste does not have enough budget to facilitate all the modalities, therefore the athletes who will participate in the games will be limited. We wish each modality to be participated by 10 more athletes but it will be limited because the Government of Timor – Leste does not have sufficient funds,” Guterres said.
