DILI, 16 february 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government today approved the creation of an administrative structure responsible for carrying out the 2022 General Population and Housing Census (2022 Census).
The draft resolution was presented by the Deputy Minister of Finance, Sara Lobo Brites.
“The new administrative structure now approved includes each of the three committees that make up the administrative structure responsible for carrying out the 2022 Censuses”, said the Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Fidélis Magalhães, at a press conference, at the Government Palace, in Dili.
According to the official, these three commissions are national of the 2022 censuses that aim to guide the policy and administrative of the census activity, as well as to mobilize the necessary human and material resources and of the technique of the 2022 censuses that will evaluate the technique of the census activity, the revision of the instruments census data and recommending best practices for collecting and processing data.
And, finally, publicizing the 2022 censuses, which will be responsible for informing and preparing the general public for the census activity.
“The General Population and Housing Census has as main objectives the counting and characterization of the resident population in Timor-Leste, as well as the survey of existing housing and their living conditions, through the exhaustive collection of elements and data, carried out through survey operations and statistical treatment”, he concluded.
The Directorate-General for Statistics of the Ministry of Finance will carry out, next September, the 2022 population census.
The Director-General for Statistics of the Ministry of Finance, Elias dos Santos Ferreira, said that the Government foresees 3.1 million of US dollars to carry out this activity.
