EU Observation Mission begins its visit to the success team of presidential candidates

DILI, 23 february 2022 (TATOLI)-The European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission (MOE) visited the team campaign of the candidate President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta to discuss the preparations of the 2022 presidential election campaign.

The MOE-EU delegation was led by, Alexander Gray with his team Cristina Alves, Margarina Alves and Michel Hiauver represented the EU’s position to support an international team of observers who will directly observe the electoral process to run successfully, fairly and democratically throughout the territory of Timor–Leste and the diaspora.

The EU is also concerned about the security situation in Timor- Leste, and inquired about the preparations for the presidential candidates, especially on campaign materials and programs, logistical preparations, administration and other technical issues that must be prevented during the process of elections.

The General Coordinator of candidate of President of the Republic Ramos Horta, Thomas do Rosario Cabral clarified that security in Timor-Leste was the responsibility of the State and the Government through the National Police of Timor Leste (PNTL) and the Defense Force of Timor – Leste (F-FDTL), because of that about the security will be ensured in across the Timor-Leste.

“About the security, will be handled by the State through PNTL and FDTL, From the team campaign of the candidate of President of Republic Horta, we will collaborate with PNTL and F- FDTL to prevent the violence and continue to promote the peace to success the Presidential Election which will take place on 19 of march.,’’ General coordinator of team campaign from the candidate of the President Republic Horta, Thomas Cabral, stated in a press release which accessed by Tatoli.

The CNRT Party has provided the training to 5600 supporters to conduct the direct observation based on the Secretariat of Technical Administration Election (STAE) ‘s requests to become the political observer from CNRT‘s Party in all Polling Station centers in across the Timor Leste and diaspora to prevent the electoral fraud.
