DILI, 18 march 2022 (TATOLI)- National Justice and Peace Commission (JPIC) has observed three polling stations in Akadiru-Hun, Dili, lacked coordination and were unorganized.
The JPIC’s observer Dulce De Fatima Ximenes Guterres Da Silva said it lacks coordination between National Election Commission and local authority in Akadiru-Huun village.
“It is not well prepared before distributing the election bulletin items to the polling stations. When the bulletin arrived at the venue, there was no local authority present and the place was not well organized.” The JPIC’s observer Dulce De Fatima Ximenes Guterres Da Silva told TATOLI Agency at Akadiru-Hun village, this friday.
She added this situation is unsatisfactory due to the village office not finalizing the rehabilitation. There are unsafe windows and doors.
It is most important even in the country. Timorese people should mutually determine the future of this country.
A good condition is needed for the voters to give their vote tomorrow. More working together between CNE, STAE, and the Minister of Administration to ensure the polling station must be well prepared in one week before.
“It is a very confidential vote that people will be voting through the bulletin. Government the election staff and local leader must guarantee the ballots are secret.
A CNE’s staff of Polling station ABC Bidau Akadiru-Hun, Jaime Da Conceição Jesus Ribeiro unacknowledged that the preparation is not maximal due to miss-coordination between relevant authorities.
However, for Polling Station Number 2 in Basic school Akadiru-Hun has provided a safe place to store the bulletin.
There are six PNTL members available to ensure security for three polling stations. Two members will provide security assistance for each polling station.
There are 50 polling staffs will take responsibility in three polling stations composed of 10 persons in Bidau-Tahu Laran Boxing Training Center (Polling Station No 1), 30 staff in Bidauk Akadiru-Hun Basic school polling Station No 2 and for their ten staff in Akadiru-Hun village’s office.
It is still confidential how many bulletins are distributed to the Bidau Akadiru-Hun village. The Commission of Nation Election (CNE) will announce the total number on the voting day, which will be held tomorrow on 19 march, saturday.
