DILI, 18 may 2022 (TATOLI) – The delegation of Mozambique, representing President Filipe Nyusi, met with the Timor-Leste’s Head of State, Francisco Guterres Lú Olo, at the Presidential Palace.
“At the meeting, the two countries’ leaders discussed the historical and friendly relations between the two countries. We address the current situations of the two nations, which are characterized by economic recovery, after the covid-19 pandemic,” the Minister of the Civil House of Mozambique, Constantino Bacela informed the journalist after the meeting with Lú Olo.
Bacela also mentioned that, during the meeting, the conflicts in Cabo Delgado, perpetrated by terrorists were addressed.
“President Lú Olo showed solidarity on behalf of himself and the Timorese people with Mozambique,” he said.
He also assured us that, at the moment, the situation is going to normal and the population is slowly returning to their homes.
It is recalled that since 2017 the province of Cabo Delgado has suffered violent terrorist attacks, claimed by the Islamic State extremist group. Currently, the number of displaced people exceeds 700,000 and the number of deaths reaches 4,000.
