DILI, 21 may 2022 (TATOLI) – Portuguese President Marcelo Nuno Duarte Rebelo visited a mini cultural property exhibition, organized by the Timorese Business Women’s Association (AEM-TL), at the Embassy of Portugal, in Dili.
At the mini-cultural property exhibition, President Rebelo expressed his deepest appreciation after wearing a suit made of tais, presented by AEM-TL as a souvenir.
Various Timorese cultural artifacts, galleries of arts, and tais were presented at the exhibition.
In a conversation with AEM-TL’s President, Hergui Luina Alves, Rebelo appreciated AEM-TL’s initiative, dynamism, and diversity.
“It should be noted that this exhibition is just the beginning of your path, it is not the end, and it is not even the middle. You need to keep it up as it’s important for Timor-Leste.”
Alves said the exhibition of the artifacts, gallery of arts and tais was part of AEM-TL’s women’s economic empowerment program.
She stressed that half of the Timorese population are women: “Therefore, AEM-TL empowers women to build better livelihoods, earn more income to be economically strong, and create businesses that provide jobs and boost their family economy.”
Alves called on all parties to get involved and work for hand in hand with each other to fight and be the voice for the voiceless women in Timor-Leste to achieve their dream of being financially independent.
