DILI, 24 may 2022 (TATOLI) – The President of the Arabian Centers Human Resources Group Jobs Global, Samer Salibi, accompanied by the Director of Incanto Group, Joanico Jeronimo, met with the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta to discuss the prospect of sending Timorese workers to Dubai, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Samer Salibi said President Horta was so much supportive of the initiative of sending Timorese workers abroad to help build the economy of Timor-Leste.

“We believe, we can do a lot to support Timor-Leste’s economy. There are lots of ideas and investments to support this nation,” Salibi told reporters after meeting President Horta at the Palace of the Government, in Dili, on tuesday.

He said the environment has been set for the foreign workers to be protected to get what they expected to contribute to their own country: “The government of UAE has set laws to protect and ensure the safeness of the foreign workers in UAE. For instance, 90% of the population living in UAE are foreign workers and they are protected.”

“Workers need to sigh and agree on the employment contract before leaving for UAE. So, if the workers are not happy with the contract, then they don’t need to sign it. You are signing the contract because you are happy with the salary. The employment contracts are very well respected and protected and very well implemented by the Ministry of Labor of UAE,” said Salibi.

Samer Salibi stressed that Arabian Centers Human Resources Group Jobs Global and Incanto Group will establish a Training Center to conduct training that will allow Timorese workers to level up and strengthen their skills before going to work in the UAE.

“Developing human resources is one of the most important challenges that any country may face especially in the early stages of planning to send workers abroad,” Salibi said.

He said through the training program, Job Global and Incanto Group would train Timorese people with skills required by the UAE’s labor market: “Once they work abroad, the workers would gain proper skills and come back to revive their own country’s economy.”

Salibi emphasized that sending Timorese workers to UEA would benefit Timor-Leste in two ways: workers would gain experience and at the same time send money back home to support their families’ economic hardship.

At the same place, the Director of Incanto Group, Joanico Jeronimo said that the special training was needed to improve the right skills of the workers to find the right jobs in UAE: “To get the right job is what we are trying to get the people ready for. So, we train them to get the right job in UAE.”

Jeronimo said to level up the skills of the workers, therefore, Jobs Global and Incanto Group would set up Training Center to provide training in the English language, hospitality, and cabin crew.

At the meeting, Jeronimo said President Horta encouraged and motivated Jobs Global and Incanto Group to accelerate the ongoing process of the recruitment of the Timorese workers to work in Dubai.

“President Horta advised Jobs Global and Incanto group to cooperate with the Government, especially the Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Employment (SEFOPE), and relevant ministries before sending workers to Dubai to anticipate and prevent any possible risks,” he said.

Incanto Group and Jobs Global have recruited 300 Timorese workers to be sent to work in UAE.
