DILI, 02 june 2022 (TATOLI) – Cambodia’s Angkor Tiger FC signed Timorese football sticker Mouzinho Barreto De Lima to play with the club in the 2022 season.
“I accept and sign my term contract with Angkor Tiger FC to play for the team in the 2022 season,” Mouzinho told TATOLI, at the Phnom Penh Hotel, in Cambodia, on wednesday.
Mouzinho expressed his contentment after signing the contract with Angkor Tiger FC, one of the well-known football clubs in Southeast Asia countries and Asia.
“As a Timorese player, it’s a dream come true for me. Looking back to my childhood, I played football a lot and I have just signed a contract to play with an overseas football club. It’s the happiest moment for me,” he said.
Mouzinho sign a one-year contract with Angkor Tiger FC and his contract is set to expire on december 31.
With his new club, Mouzinho assumed a big task to play as a playmaker.
A playmaker is a player who controls the flow of the team’s play and is often involved in offensively and defensively playing passing moves that lead to goals, through their vision, technique, ball control, creativity, and passing ability.
“Regarding my monthly salary with Angkor Tiger FC, I think it’s a confidential thing and I don’t need to reveal it to the public. The club will cover all of my living costs in Cambodia,” said Mouzinho.
Mouzinho pledged to use the opportunity wisely to level up his football skills and perform well to promote Timor-Leste overseas.
Mouzinho’s experience in soccer
Mouzinho began playing football at age 13 in 2010 for the national under-12 football team and was trained by his South Korean coach Kim Shin-hwan. He didn’t join the team to play in South Korea because he was too young at the time. However, in 2012 when he turned 12, he was selected by Kim to play along with other teammates in MBC and Jion-ji cup. Mouzinho and his teammates performed well during the competition to reach the semi-final stage to occupy third place.
Mouzinho’s passion for soccer kept him training daily at the football field of Timor-Leste’s Football Federation, in Dili.
In 2013, Mouzinho again joined his teammate under 14 to compete in Jion-ji cup and finished as runner-up.
In the following year, Mouzinho and his teammate represented Timor-Leste to compete in Football Festival and became runner-up after losing to Vietnam.
Meanwhile, in 2014, Mouzinho and his teammate again played in Jion-ji Cup and failed to go through to the semi-final following their defeat to the Barcelona team.
In 2016, Mouzinho joined the National Under 16 team to compete in Festival Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Brunei Darussalam where Timor-Leste ended as runner-up.
In the same year, Mouzinho and the National Under 16 team represented Timor-Leste to compete in the CPLP Football Festival in Cabo-Verde.
When he turned 19, in 2018, Mouzinho joined the National Under 19 to compete in Asian Football Association in Indonesia.
In the same year, he joined the Timor-Leste national under 21 football team, led by coach Eduardo Pereira to play in the Hasanal Bolkiah where Timor-Leste became the champion.
In 2019, Mouzinho’s skills attracted Norio Sukitete, the coach of the National Under 19 Football Team.
In 2021, Mouzinho joined the U-23 national team to play in the AFF Cup in Cambodia and led Timor-Leste to occupy third place.
On may 31, this year, Angkor Tiger FC showed interest in Mouzinho’s football skills and signed a one-year contract with the player.
In Timor-Leste, Mouzinho played for the SLB FC since 2016 with Kay Xanana Gusmão as the President of the club. In his first season with SLB, Mauzinho helped the club successfully become the champion in the 2016 season. In 2021, Mouzinho moved to Boavista Timor, but he didn’t fully play for the club during the season due to the Covid-19.
Mouzinho’s Biography
Mouzinho Barreto De Lima was born on june 26, 2002. He is the last child of six siblings of Mario de Lima (father) and Adelina Barreto (mother).
He began his pre-school in 2004 and joined primary Santa Madalena de Canossa, in Dili, in 2006. After terminating his primary school, he started his junior high school at the Cristal Junior High School in Dili. After concluding his junior high school, Mouzinho started his High School Education at the Senior High School FINANTIL-DILI. He is currently doing his undergraduate at the National University of Timor-Lorosa’e (UNTL).
“Among my siblings, I am the only one who plays soccer and I do love playing football, unlike my father who loves boxing,” Mouzinho concluded.
