DILI, 07 june 2022 (TATOLI)—The Ministry of Finance, Rui Augusto Gomes presented the government and development partners’ discussion on the economic recovery and climate change to the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta.
“This meeting is to inform President Horta about our ongoing bilateral meeting with our development partners, and ambassadors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MoFAC),” Minister Gomes told reporters at the Presidential Palace, in Dili, on tuesday.
“Economic Recovery and Climate Change are the main topics of our discussion. Climate change has been a major threat to our country and we need to build a climate-resilient society. Timor-Leste has been impacted by this phenomenon,” said Minister Gomes.
He said President accepted his request to meet with development partners to discuss the national development: “President’s message focused on malnutrition amongst Mothers and Children.”
World Bank, Asian Development Bank, JICA, and several ambassadors were present at the meeting.
A number of key speakers delivered their presentations at the meeting, covering various topics – supply change, malnutrition, climate change adaptation, etc.
