DILI, 20 june 2022 (TATOLI)—The East Timorese Women Entrepreneurs Association (AEWTL) and The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Timor-Leste (CCI-TL), and the International Labor Organization (ILO) provide entrepreneurship training in four municipalities.

The head of AEMTL, Hergui Lina Fernandes Alves, explained that this training is one way to reduce violence against gender by providing entrepreneurship training.

This training was given to groups of beneficiaries from various organizations that involved the victims of violence against gender, disability, and LGBTI such as Fokupers, Codiva, F-FCJ, Rede Feto, Alfela, and others.

“The training is to support women entrepreneurs groups to help victims and the groups sustain their life and not necessary for depending on others,” said the Chair of AEWTL in Acait office, this Monday.

AEWTL will provide business management training for women group to run their businesses. Business is a way to help women to avoid violence and gained some income and respond to daily needs.

CCI-TL Deputy Chair, João de Carvalho Fernandes is requesting all participants to take this opportunity to learn more about business.

“The women can manage their business plans. CCI and ILO are committed to helping them by providing capacity building,”

According to Fernandes, the training will be five days of training, each day will benefit 20 people. ILO will support the training by developing the module Get Ahead, it is a new approach to small enterprise development which aims to assist ILO partner organizations in promoting enterprise development among women in poverty who want to start or are already engaged in small-scale business.

He explained that this training is one of the support programs from Spotlight of the European Union (EU) with a total fund of $50,000 for all training packages in the four municipalities including Dili, Ermera, Bobonaro, and Viqueque.

There are 15 CCITL and ILO trainers who have fulfilled the international standard. The trainers are coming from Uganda, AEMTL, and IADE.

Fernandes added that the same training is currently being implemented by IADE in four municipalities with 160 participants, every municipality composed of 20 participants.
