DILI, 1 july 2022 (TATOLI)- German International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) awarded 35 participants with an English language certification.
The 35 participants were composed of employees from MAF and Ruaksadhip Foundation who attended an English course at the Center of Ruaksadhip Dili Timor-Leste.
GIZ representative, Fransiska Schneider said GIZ is committed to supporting the Timorese government in the agroforestry sector through the ”AI Ba Futuru Project” by providing English language courses to ensure staff has the knowledge to work with English.
“We are working closely with the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and through the Ruaksadhip foundation to provide English language courses to Agriculture staff. This training is focused on primary and secondary levels to help them acquire writing, speaking and understanding skills.” GIZ representative Fransiska Schneider told reporters in Taibesi this Friday.
Chief Cabinet Secretary-General of Industry and Coffee Plantation, Hermenegildo De Almeida Grandineiro said GIZ is the main partner of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries.
“We thank GIZ for the support given to the Government of the Ministry of Agriculture, in particular, capacity building to improve the English language skills of the staff,” he said.
He added that the staff was selected from various departments including Admiration, Coffee Plantation, Industry, Fisheries, and others.
Meanwhile, The Ruaksadhip Foundation’s Training Coordinator, Gideon Awuonda said the participants had very poor English skills but they had provided appropriate teaching methods for the participants to improve their English vocabulary and skills.
“We provide appropriate teaching methods for the participants to use to improve their vocabulary. The participants have to practice their important vocabulary in their daily activities at home and even in the office. We also created an English environment to help all students practice their communication during the learning process,” he explained.
