DILI, 01 july 2022 (TATOLI)—The government through the State Secretariat of Cooperatives (SECOOP) has agreed to cooperate with Padjadjaran University (UNPAD) Bandung Indonesia to provide training to SECOOP employees on the cooperative sector.

The agreement was signed by the Administration and Financial Planning Section of SEKoop, Natália Rocha da Costa, and Mohammad Benny Alexandri from UNPAD at SSCOOP’s head office in Acait, this Friday.

Secretary of State for Cooperatives, Elizário Ferreira explained that the cooperation between the two institutions will focus on further institutional development aimed at developing human resources in the field of cooperatives, especially for stakeholders such as cooperative members.

“SECOOP requires the provision of sufficient resources to be able to facilitate education and training for the community in the field of cooperatives and in particular for stakeholders in this field. So, in this training, members can share knowledge about cooperatives with others,” said Ferreira.

Deputy Dean for Resources and Organization of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UNPAD Bandung Indonesia, Mohammad Benny Alexandri, confirmed that his institution is willing to provide training in the field of cooperatives to participants from Timor-Leste as requested by SEKoop.

“We will work closely with SECOOP in the areas of training and education. We will provide experts to review what needs to be done to improve the cooperation system in Timor-Leste,” he said.

He ensured that UNPAD would review the main problems faced by SECOOP so far in developing the cooperative sector by providing training with solutions related to the problems faced by SEKOOP, to produce effective results.

“UNPAD will be given training modules to focus on key data from SECOOP which is engaged in quality general, production and marketing,” he said.

So far, the cooperation between the two institutions will last for five years from 2022 to 2027.
