SSYS provides 27.844 USD to ETDA to support scholarships for 26 young Timorese

DILI, 6 july 2022 (TATOLI)– The State Secretary for Youth and Sports (SSYD) provided 27,844 USD to the East Timor Development Agency (ETDA) to support scholarships for 26 Timorese in the Hospitality sector.

National Director of SSYS, Cezarino da Silva said the secretary of state for youth and sport has an integrated program related to capacity building across the country, adding that for this reason, the SSYS provides a budget to support training that helps build knowledge of young Timorese: This year SSYS agreed to provide a limited budget to support 26 Timorese to attend training at ETDA for 3 months,”

“We have an agreement with ETDA to provide hospitality training worth 27,844 USD,” SSYS National Director of Youth and Creativity, Cesarino Da Silva told a report at ETDA’s office, Hudi Laran, this Wednesday.

The Director of ETDA, Januário Neto Mok said that ETDA is one of the institutions responsible for providing capacity building to the Timorese community in different areas.

“We provide training that focuses on hotels, restaurants, customer service, cleaning services, language skills and other training on character abilities consisting of communication efficacy, work ethic, time management, decision making, critical ideas, problem-solving, these subjects are integrated into the ETDA curriculum,” he said.

INDIMO representative, Angelina Guterres said INDIMO is a government agency responsible for evaluating all training centers across the country to meet all requirements, saying, therefore, EDTA is one of the training centers that have met the criteria in every training sector.

“We believe that students who take part in the training at ETDA will gain more knowledge about various skills,” She concluded

So far in 2000 ETDA has produced more than 2,000 students who are currently working in various sectors in the country and some are working abroad.
