DILI, 07 july 2022 (TATOLI)– The TANE Consumers Association requests the country’s Quality Institute (IQTL) to provide the list price for all local products in Timor-Leste to ensure local producers compete in the international market.
“This is very interesting because IQTL has the function to validate the quality of every domestic product and design certificates before being sold or sent to international markets,” President of TANE, António da Siva told Tatoli in Vila Verde, this Thursday.
According to da Silva, IQTL is currently in the process of setting quality standards for all local produce in Timor-Leste, saying this will help local farmers improve their products while providing standards that should be met by all national and international companies operating in the country.
“The advantage of standard pricing is that the introduction of goods/products is easy; There are no specifications errors in obtaining products, another advantage is helping Timor-Leste to facilitate access to the World Trade Organization (WTO) because to become a member of the WTO a country must have product certification to ensure the private sector can commercialize its products to national and international markets and a standard price for local products,”
