DILI, 14 july 2022 (TATOLI) – The Country Director of the World Food Program (WFP) in Timor-Leste, Dagen Liu, was awarded the Order of Timor-Leste after serving a four-year mission in Timor-Leste.
“It’s such a great honor for me, to the World Food Program (WFP), and also to the United Nations system to receive this decoration. I never expect to receive such a great decoration,” Liu said after receiving the Order of Timor-Leste at the Presidential Palace, today.
“I am inspired by President Horta’s leadership and I feel overwhelmed after receiving this award. This will be a lifetime honor for me.”
Liu said even though, he is leaving Timor-Leste, next monday, but saying Timor-Leste will forever stay in his heart.
“I am a scuba diver and a photographer, that’s why I know how amazingly Timor-Leste has a natural beauty and I had the pleasure to travel over the country to explore Timor-Leste’s underwater beauty,” he said.
Liu said Timor-Leste has given him so much and he thank President Horta, and the People of Timor-Leste for the collaboration during his mission as WFP’s Country Director, in Timor-Leste: “I can’t thank you enough.”
President Horta acknowledged the work of the UN system in Timor-Leste, including the WFP led by Dagen Liu in the past four years.
Horta said people from the UN system have shown their diligence to work and serve the institutions and the people of Timor-Leste.
