DILI, 27 july 2022 (TATOLI)—The Member of the Parliament from KHUNTO Party, Luis Roberto called on Timor-Leste News Agency or TATOLI to deploy its journalists to all municipalities across the country.
As the Second Vice President of KHUNTO, Roberto said deploying more journalists to the municipalities is important to cover the issues facing communities in the rural areas.
“I think, TATOLI needs to recruit more journalists to be deployed to all municipalities. It will help us to have access to all kinds of information from the municipalities and rural areas,” Roberto told TATOLI on the sixth anniversary of TATOLI, on july 27.
Currently, five of the TATOLI’s journalists are deployed in the municipalities, including Baucau, Covalima, Bobonaro, Viqueuque, and RAEOA.
He said TATOLI has so far produced good news stories but says the Journalists need to improve their writing skills to produce good quality news stories.
Roberto said the Government needed to allocate more budget to invest in capacity building and training and purchasing adequate equipment to produce good quality stories.
“TATOLI needs to keep up the good work. I think the Government needs to invest more to make significant improvements,” he added.
On behalf of KHUNTO, Roberto congratulated all journalists, editors, and finance and administration staff on the celebration of TATOLI’s sixth anniversary: “I wish you all every success in your work and your journey.”

TATOLI is a national news agency delivering news across the country and the world in four different languages; Tetum, Portuguese, English, and Indonesian.
TATOLI was established following the decision of the Council of Ministers (CoM) on February 3, 2016, which was published in the Official Gazette of the President of the Republic march 16, 2016.
It was officially launched by former Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araújo, on june 27, 2016.
On march 7, 2017, the Council of Ministers approved the creation of TATOLI – Timor-Leste News Agency (in Portuguese: “TATOLI – Agência Noticiosa de Timor-Leste, IP”). The decision came following the creation of a news portal, then called ANTIL, in march of 2016. The main objective of TATOLI is to be the source of official information, with the production of information for national, regional, and international audiences. With a multichannel, multimedia, multiplatform and multitasking character, the News Agency may evolve and serve as a center for the production of cinema and State documentation, as a public opinion institute, as a forum for public information, as a center for the management of archives and State documentation, and as a center for communication applied training and research.
