DILI, 10 august 2022 (TATOLI)– The State Secretary of Vocational Training and Employment (SoSVTE) provides 334,328.70 thousand USD to 67 groups of entrepreneurs to develop their businesses.
SoSVTE, Alarico do Rosario said every year the government provides financial support to business groups in Timor-Leste, and this year 76 groups have become the beneficiaries of this program.
“We provided more than 334,000 USD to support 67 business groups in 12 municipalities. these Groups are selected through a rigorous selection process,” Alarico do Rosario told reporters at his office, Caicoli, Wednesday.
These groups have different business activities such as workshops, carpentry, rental, horticulture, shops or KIOS, livestock, and others.
Meanwhile the Director of the Commission of Anti-Corruption (CAC), Rosario Salsinha Araujo said CAC is working closely with SoSVTE to ensure financial support to recipients must be used responsibly.
“All groups of entrepreneurs who benefit from this program must be responsible for business expenses and the money should be used to improve their business activities, those who misuse the money will be subject to sanctions, the sanction is to take all the equipment belonging to the entrepreneur, and distribute it to others,”
The team leader of the Ridus Riveiro women’s group, Rocilia Ribeiro, said she would use the money to expand their business.
“Today, we deserve six thousand USD, we will manage the budget given to us, the money will be used to develop our horticulture program, especially growing green vegetables, repairing fences around gardens to protect crops,”
Every group receives a different amount of support including the group that grows vegetables will receive $10,000 while $3,000 for those who raise animals.
