DILI, 13 august 2022 (TATOLI) – Twenty-nine young Timorese take an aviation-related scholarship test at Indonesia Cultural Center, in Dili.
Six out of these applicants will be chosen to receive the scholarships to pursue their Diploma III Degree at the Indonesian Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya, in the areas of Aviation Operations, Aviation Security, and Aviation Fire and Rescue.
After sitting for the written exam in the morning session, the selected candidates are set to proceed to the interview session in the afternoon. After the interview, the chosen applicants will be undergoing a medical examination on monday and a physical test on tuesday.
The President of the Air Navigation Administration Timor-Leste (ANA-TL), Jose Trindade da Cruz Pinto said that over 100 applicants applied for the scholarships, but only 32 candidates were shortlisted: “Of the 32 candidates, we have 29 who take the test today.”
Pinto said the test is fair and rigorous, saying the test papers were prepared by the team of the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya, led by the Vice Coordinator, Hari Fitrianto.
“We only prepare the facilities, but the whole process of testing was prepared and conducted by the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya’s team, including the test, interview, medical examination, and physical test,” he emphasized.
Pinto said the final result of the test will be announced on wednesday, next week: “They will be likely to depart for Indonesia in the middle of september.”
The scholarship was given by the Air Navigation Administration Timor-Leste (ANA-TL) and Government’s Human Capital Development Fund (FDCH).
“We have been in cooperation with the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya to take our young Timorese students to pursue their higher education in aviation-related areas. This is the second intake of this scholarship program. For the first intake, we have six students who will be graduating on august 19, this year,” Pinto told TATOLI, at the Indonesian Cultural Center, in Dili, today.
He stressed that doing such important courses will be contributed directly to the national development of the country.
“These young fellas will be the leader and managers to develop and control our airport in the future. That’s why I asked them to use the opportunity wisely to learn and improve themselves to be the future leader in managing and controlling our airports.”
At the same place, the Vice Coordinator of the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya, Hari Fitrianto thanked ANA-TL and FDCH for choosing the Aviation Polytechnic of Surabaya as a partner to contribute to the Timor-Leste’s human resource development, especially in the aviation-related areas.
“We hope this cooperation will continue for many years to come to provide more opportunities for young Timorese to pursue their education and career in the aviation-related areas,” he said.
In 2022, FDCH allocated around 31.000 for the proposed human resource development program of ANA-TL. While the Government of Timor-Leste allocated around US$12 million of the 2022 General State Budget for FDCH.
