DILI, august 24, 2022 (TATOLI) – The government has placed approximately US$221,000 for the preparation to welcome Archbishop of Dili Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, SDB, and commemoration of his appointment as the first Timorese Cardinal.
The Interim President of the Council of Ministers, Rui Gomes, informed that these funds came from the Allocations for the whole Government and “after the previous conclusion of the public subsidy agreement between the Executive and the Conference of Timor Bishops.
“The support aims to increase the importance of the Catholic Church in Timorese society, also contribute to receptions and memorials,” he said at the Government Palace.
Pope Francis will convene, a consistory for the 21 appointed, including Timor-Leste Archbishop, Dom Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, SDB on 27 August, at the Vatican.
