DILI, 31 august 2022 (TATOLI)– The Timor-Leste Red Cross (RCTL) reflects humanitarian solidarity through voluntary actions to help others, who are in need. This sense is to promote human diversity and fraternity on International Human Solidarity Day (IHSD).
RCTL Secretary General, Luis Pedro said that the reflection of International Human solidarity is to reflect the voluntary action taken by one human being for another. Actions must be impartial, neutral, and honest, and must promote diversity among people.
”We understand that human solidarity reflects the sense and voluntary actions of humans to support others. There is no need to differentiate between people,” said RCTL Secretary General Luis Pedro to TATOLI, at his office in Bairru Dos Grillus, this Wednesday.
According to Pedro, RCTL member volunteers are always ready to provide humanitarian assistance in the form of blood donations, water, sanitation, and others in every critical situation that occurs at the national level.
So far, RCTL has received support from the New Zealand Red Cross, Australian Red Cross, America, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the red cross of other countries.
In addition, the RCTL also received $250,000 from the Civil Society Cabinet under the Prime Minister’s Office.
So far RCTL has 1,300 volunteers and 140 RCTL staff who are actively working in the field of Humanitarian Aid.
The RCTL has intervened through humanitarian action and is estimated to be the direct beneficiary of all RCTL programs for around 300,000 people and the indirect beneficiaries are more than 500,000 Timorese in 12 municipalities including RAEOA Oecusse-Ambeno.
