DILI, 19, september 2022 (TATOLI) – The current ambassador of Timor-Leste to Mozambique, Francisco Miranda Branco, was assigned new tasks to serve as Timor-Leste’s envoy to Angola and South Africa.

In addition to his diplomatic mission in Mozambique, Branco today assigned new tasks as Timor-Leste’s ambassador to Angola and South Africa.

“I was appointed as Timor-Leste’s Ambassador to Mozambique based on the decision of the Council of Ministers. With the new assignment, besides Mozambique, my diplomatic mission will also cover Angola and South Africa,” Branco told reporters at the Government Palace, today.

Branco said that South Africa is a member state of the G20 countries, saying that it is important for Timor-Leste to establish diplomatic relations with this upper-middle-income economy country.

As a member of the Portuguese-speaking countries, Timor-Leste also needs to strengthen bilateral ties with Angola.

“We will build economic diplomacy with these countries,” Branco said.

He said that convincing foreign investors to Timor-Leste would be the main focus of his mission in Africa.

Branco is scheduled to leave for Mozambique on wednesday (21/09).
