DILI, 20 september 2022 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Health (MoH), today, sent five types of medicines to Australia to assess their quality at the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TAG) Laboratory.

“Australia’s TAG is available to test the quality of drugs annually. So, today we are sending the five types of drugs, namely ampicillin, aspirin, glibenclamide, oxytocin, and bisoprolol,” said the Head of the Department of Marketing Management (DMM) of MoH, Teodoro de Jesus, in Caicoli, Dili.

He said sending these medicines to be tested in Australia cost US$430, saying the results will be received in three months times.

These drugs are used for the treatment of contagious and heart diseases, induce labor, and reduce hypertension.

De Jesus said that Timor-Leste joined the Pacific Medicine Testing Program, in which the Australian Government provides medical quality laboratory testing services to the Pacific Island countries.

The Ministry of Health signed an agreement with the TAG last year to assess the quality of various types of medicines, including insulin, amoxicillin, dexamethasone, and simvastatin.
