Over 295 Timorese workers will leave TL to work in Australia

DILI, 04 0ctober 2022 (TATOLI)– The Secretary of State for Professional Training and Employment (SEFOPE) hosted a farewell ceremony for 295 Timorese workers to work in Australia in October this year.

SEFOPE Director General, Paulo Alves said the farewell event was organized to invite the families of the workers to sign a statement with the Government following the regulations that had been prepared before leaving for Australia.

“Our workers will work in 16 companies in Australia. Some of the workers are senior workers and they will leave for Australia this week,” said Paulo at INFORDEPE Dili.

Alves said, since the implementation of the seasonal worker program, SEFOPE has sent a total of 6,000 workers working in the Horticulture sector in Australia while this year, from January to October the Government sent more than 2,000 workers to Australia.

Regina Magno Soares, a prospective worker pleased with the opportunity given to her to work in Australia:” I am happy to have the opportunity to work in Australia, as a worker I will work according to the regulations that have been set. I have a three-year contract,” She said.

So far these workers will work with 16 companies including Connect Group/ADCO, SW Labor Solution, Advance Packing, Tasmania Berries, Burlington Berries, Deep Creek Organics, FPG Group Frutico WA, Sunray Strawberries, Burlington Berries, McCrystal farm services, Connect Group / Flowers, Connect Group/Niceforo, Berry Hillwood, Berry Tasmania, Berry Hillwood without Petane.
