DILI, 18 october 2022 (TATOLI)- Deputy Minister of Finance (MF), António Freitas revealed that the ADB’s support fund of $3 million will be used to implement agriculture and clean water projects in five municipalities.
The Representative of the Ministry of Finance has informed the Prime Minister Regarding the discussion held between the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery, on the ADB’s mission to implement the projects.
“Seeing that all of our farmers have difficulties doing the farms during the Climate change, therefore this agricultural project is implemented and focus on water supply for five municipalities that have been identified to cooperate with ADB,” explained Freitas in Farol, monday.
It was explained that the five municipalities were selected to be included in the water-related agricultural projects; the criteria included the municipalities that have indications of poverty and malnutrition.
“The five municipalities consist of Ataúro, Manatuto, Manufahi, Oe-cusse, and Dili (Metinaro). These areas are lacking water resources. Therefore, they can be motivated to work in agriculture,” he said.
Previously, ADB invested $3 million in coffee rehabilitation and at the same time PM also has a value chain program and through discussions with ADB has seen the possibility of investing in agriculture especially promoting local products.
