Kacific Broadband Satellites to help develop the space industry in TL

DILI, 24 october 2022 (TATOLI) – The Singaporean satellite company known as Kacific Broadband Satellites discuss with the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta its plan to help develop the space industry in the country.

“We are a Singapore satellite company and we have a geostationary broadband satellite that has been towards Timor-Leste. We have invested in the order of US$5 million of space technology to provide internet everywhere over Timor-Leste,” CEO of the Broadband Satellites, Christian Patouraux told reporters at the Presidential Palace today.

Patouraux said during the meeting, they discussed the value of the space industry which could be a big part of the general economic development of Timor-Leste.

“I came to have a discussion with President Horta about the value we can bring to Timor-Leste,” he said.

He added that President Horta also shared the vision that the space industry could help develop Timor-Leste and take advantage of some economic development zone initiatives that had been led by the government, saying it would help support the government for certain industries.

“The President was positively welcoming and I told him that I would be happy to help develop the space industry in Timor-Leste,” he Patouraux.
