DILI, 26 October 2022 (TATOLI)– The Chinese Embassy and Tradeinvest Agency reactivated the export of five tons of candlenut oil to the Chinese market.
The export is reactivated following the Chinese Government’s decision on the reactivation of the market request.
Chinese Embassy representative, Liz Zhibo said China was grateful to be able to reactivate the export of candlenut oil to the Chinese market, saying because of COVID-19, the Chinese market did not demand products from other countries to China and the candlenut oil market was temporarily closed during a pandemic.
“Since 2020, many products from Timor-Leste have not been exported to the China Market due to covid-19 and The Chinese market has temporarily closed the demand for candlenut oil and other products to the Chinese market, so now China is grateful to be able to reactivate again candlenut oil exports to the Chinese market. ” Representative of the Chinese Embassy, Liz Zhibo told TATOLI Agency at the ANL warehouse, Comoro, this Wednesday.
He added that this year the impact of COVID-19 had decreased and the Chinese government decided to reactivate marketing requests to export local products to the Chinese market including candlenut oil.
Tradeinvest’s Director of Promotion and Exports in Timor-Leste, Decio Ribeiro Sarmento said today that the Chinese government through Its Embassy in Timor-Leste with the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, and Industry (MTTI) and Trade Invest are working together to process the export of five tons of candlenut oil to the Chinese market.
“The export documents have been completed, and the transportation process from Timor-Leste through the Tibar Port continues to Singapore, the destination market is in China,” said Director Ribeiro.
ASELDA Director, Higino da Costa Freitas said after completing the document processing for the original and organic products, China allowed Timor-Leste to export local products such as candlenut oil to the Chinese market.
“We hope this initial export goes smoothly and expect more exports to China,” he said.
Freitas explained that the five tons of candlenut oil was filled in 25 drums. Each drum was filled with 5 tons of candlenut oil. Thus, 25 drums can fill 125 tons of hazelnut oil which costs up to 30,000 USD.
So far, ASELDA has exported candlenut and coconut oil to Indonesia and America with a total of 30 tons before COVID-19.
