DILI, 26 october 2022 (TATOLI)- The State Secretary for Environment (SEA) and Technology Information and Communication (TIC) Timor-Leste IP agree to work on the website platform to protect the environmental information.
The secretary of State for the Environment, Diámetru do Amaral said this cooperation aims to ensure all environmental data must be protected and well managed in a dashboard.
“SEA and TIC Timor work on the website establishment to collect all information relating to environmental data that must be protected and well manage in the dashboard,’’ Amaral told reporters at Timor-Plaza, Comoro, Tuesday.
He said, this is also to develop national information including the database policies on the environment; “We hope this working cooperation be able to benefit the two government institutions and especially Timor-Leste. We do not wish to commit lack of management and avoid the loss of database on environmental information,’’ He said
Amaral said SEA previously lost its data results on research that has been carried out, due to a lack of data management.
“We believe that this mechanism for the establishment of a website platform helps SEA to well persevere all information related to the environment. The information required to preserve on the website such as Climate Change, Pollution control, Environmental license, and others,”
According to Amaral, the data needs to preserve because the students, international communities, relevant institutions, and NGOs must find information related to the environment.
The executive director of TIC Timor, IP, Roberto Caitano De Sousa Vicente said this website platform is established to help SEA to protect and preserve all databases relating to environmental information.
“We should ensure all datas are secured. TIC will protect the data to prevent the data from the hacker,” He said
According to Vicente, All environmental data will be centralized in Timor Leste and controlled by the Timorese people in the Government palace.
“TIC will proactively adopt environmental information globally and ensure that all information is safe and secure,” he said.
