DILI, 14 november 2022 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, called on Brazilian Entrepreneurs to invest more in the pharmaceutical industry in Timor-Leste.

Horta made this request during a meeting with the Brazilian Ambassador, Maurício Medeiros de Assis, at the Presidential Palace Dili, Timor-Leste.

“President Horta has shown an interest in attracting Brazilian businessmen to invest in the pharmaceutical industry. This is an area that we must explore in Timor-Leste”, said Ambassador Maurício Medeiros de Assis after meeting with the PR at the Presidential Palace.

The Ambassador considered this meeting as a preliminary meeting before heading to a formal dialogue between the two countries.

“President Horta and President-elect Lula da Silva have a personal friendship so that the two countries can continue this dialogue,” he said.

Ambassador Assis stressed that the meeting also discussed cooperation between Brazil and Timor-Leste, in the fields of education, defense, and technical cooperation for Vocational Training.

“We want to deepen this cooperation and bring more Brazilian teachers to Timor-Leste,” he said.

Horta also congratulated Brazil’s newly elected president, Lula da Silva, who will take office in January 2023, for leading the country for the next four years.

“Ramos Horta wishes success to the new president of Brazil and hopes that the bilateral relations between the two countries will be strong in several areas of cooperation”, said Assis.

Horta considers Brazil as a fraternal country that has helped Timor-Leste, through the cooperation of technology transfer.
