Horta and the Embassay of Portugal launch a movie titled ” ABANDONDOS”

DILI, 16 november 2022 ( TATOLI)– The Presidency of the Republic in collaboration with the Embassy of Portugal in Timor – Leste, is holding a film exhibition entitled ” ABANDONADOS” at the Dili Convention Center ( CCD) on tuesday.

The President of the Republic José Ramos Horta said this film tells the story of Timor – Leste during the Japanese exploration in the second world war.

“Japan’s exploration in Timor – Leste did not take long. Japan entered Timor – Leste from 1942 to 1945 and the second world war in Europe lasted five years and many people died in the war. The investigation carried out by Japan resulted in the deaths of many people in Asia such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, and including Timor – Leste,” President Horta told reporters at CCD Dili.

President Horta explained that the film tells the important task of General Pires, from Portugal who is a colonel in helping the people of Timor- Leste.

” This film is produced by Francisco Masu, who is well known in Europe. He is very professional and has produced many films” said Horta.

The film ” ABANDONADOS” tells the story of war following the reality of the Japanese exploration of Timor – Leste, and its resistance, including the first attack by the Australian military against Japanese troops in the headquarters.

The film also tells the Portuguese authorities including the people and the military were assigned to protect and save the victims from Japanese occupation for three years and over 50,000 Timorese live in war.

ABANDONADOS film edits shot on the island of Porto Santo and Madeira Portugal made as if they were in Timor – Leste.

In addition, the actors playing in the movie are Portugues actors such as; Marco Delgado, Antonio Pedro Cerdeira, Vitor Norte, and Joaquim Nicolau and are also played by actors from Timor- Leste’s citizen.

The exhibition was officially opened by the President of the Republic, José Ramos Horta, attended by the President of the National Parliament, Aniceto Guterres, Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, and other Government authorities.
