DILI, november 22, 2022 (TATOLI) – The Women and Girls Legal Aid Institute (ALFela) processed 163 cases of domestic violence and sexual violence with legal assistance at the District Court in 2021-2022.
ALFela Executive Director, Marcelina Maria Fernanda Amaral said from 2021 to 2022 ALfela has assisted 163 cases of domestic violence and sexual violence against women and girls.
“With these cases, ALFeLa is working side by side with the National Police, the Ministry of Solidarity and Social Inclusion (MoSSI) to accelerate the process, assistance to victims the same time protecting the rights of women and girls because they are most vulnerable to violations,” Marcelina Maria Fernanda Amaral told TATOLI at her office, Vila Verde, Tuesday.
“We continue to provide advocacy to potential groups of women, girls, PNTL, families, and other communities aiming to increase their knowledge to inform criminal acts committed by suspects against women and girls,” She explained
So far, ALFeLa has registered 605 new cases from January to October 2022 and the cases that were reminded are still in the process of trial.
