DILI, 06 november 2022 (TATOLI) – Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak discussed with the Executive Vice President of the Exploration and Development of Woodside Energy, Andy Drummond to discuss options to move the development of the Sunrise project forward.

“We discussed options to advance the development of the Greater Sunrise resource for the benefit of the people of Timor-Leste,” Drummond told reporters after a meeting with the Prime Minister at the Government Palace in Dili, today.

He said Woodside will work with other joint venture partners to advance the Greater Sunrise Project: “We will work within the joint venture to carry feasibility studies and that would be required to advance the Greater Sunrise development.”

He said the negotiation of the Greater Sunrise has been progressing well: “As I see, we will continue to have productive meetings with our stakeholders and our joint venture partners. It is normal for the joint venture to carry out feasibility studies before progressing with the development. We are working within the joint ventures to progress those studies.”

“We share that when you look at the geopolitical stability around the need right now and you look at the hydrocarbon supply forecast, there is a real opportunity for the development of Sunrise,” Drummond said.

He reiterated that Woodside would continue to work with stakeholders and joint venture partners to progress trilateral talks in conjunction with seeking options to develop Greater Sunrise.

“I am honored to meet with His Excellency, the Prime Minister, and other stakeholders and partners of the Joint Venture here in Timor-Leste. We have received a strong level of support, and collaboration from the Prime Minister to assist in the engagement and moving forward,” he concluded.
