DILI, 21 december 2022 (TATOLI) – Helfia Dameriana Viera Aniceto a student studying at St. Inacio de Loiola College (CSIL) won a Bronze Medal in the International Junior Science Olympic (IJSO) in Colombia Bogota.
“I am grateful to be awarded a bronze medal in the IJSO competition. I did my best in the IJSO competition the result showed that I won a bronze medal,’’ A nine-grade student of St. Inacio de Loiola College, Helfia Dameriana Viera Aniceto told Tatoli.
Helfia Aniceto said despite of difficulties they faced during the competition and less time to prepare but she feels proud because they can receive a bronze medal.
“We just have one month of preparation which was very limited time to well prepare for the IJSO competition. We faced some challenges in the competition due to the language, as we needed the translation for all questions to the Portuguese language,’’ She explained.
National Director for Primary School of the Minister of Education, Esterlita Soares acknowledge the challenge they faced during the competition, particularly in the language but they manage to solve this issue.
“We face some challenges in the language, where all the questions are required to translate by IJSO’s team. However, we were able to manage this issue,”
Meanwhile, The General Director for Primary School of Minister of Education, Luis Manuel Da Costa Fernandes congratulated the achievement of the six students who attended the IJSO’s competition in Colombia, Bogota.
“We recognized that all students have made their best in this competition. We are proud to have one student namely Helfia Dameriana Viera Aniceto a student studying at St. Inacio de Loiola College (CSIL) win a Bronze Medal and Timor-Leste should be proud of it because we are competing with over 44 countries participants,’’ She said.
The competition was joined by 203 students from 44 countries in the International Junior Science Olympic in Colombia Bogota.
Timor-Leste joined two-time IJSO competition two times, in last 2019 in Qatar and 2022 participated in Colombia Bogota.
