DILI, 28 december 2022 (TATOLI) – The Government of Timor-Leste, through the decision of the Council of Ministers approved the project for the rehabilitation of roads linking Hatubuilico (Ainaro) – Letefoho (Ermera), worth US$25.5 million.
The project to rehabilitate a 30 km road connecting the two municipalities (Ainaro and Ermera) was proposed by the Minister of Public Works (MoPW), Abel Pires da Silva.
“The Council of Ministers has approved a US$25.5 million rehabilitation project presented by MoPW, to be financed under a loan agreement with the World Bank,” said Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Fidelis Magalhaes during a press conference at the Government Palace on wednesday.
Magalhães said that the rehabilitation of the Hatubuilico and Letefoho roads is one of the Government’s priorities.
Both administrative posts (Htubuilico and Letefoho) are located at the foot of Mount Ramelau, with fertile land for growing various plants, making it one of the country’s tourist attractions. The rehabilitation of the road is crucial for the economic diversification of the nation.
“Improving this road will support economic diversification because the area is attractive to tourists and the fertile land is good for producing various types of vegetables such as potatoes, cabbage, and red beans,” Magalhaes said.
The rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin in 2023, according to established procedures.
