DILI, 30 december 2022 ( TATOLI) – The National University of Timor Loro Sa’e ( UNTL) through the Center for Human Rights and the Global Campus are currently collaborating on research to develop Human Rights Education ( HRE) in Timor – Leste.
The Coordinator of the Center for Human Rights at UNTL, Celso da Fonceca, UNTL’s Center for Human Rights was established in 2019, and currently UNTL has collaborated with the Global Campus to develop research on Human Rights Education, aiming to promote human rights education in Timor-Leste.
“UNTL and the Global Campus hope that all Timorese acknowledge human rights and promote democratization and peace to create stability to build Timor Leste in the future,” said the Coordinator of the Center for Human Rights, Celso Fonceca to TATOLI in his office Cai-Coli office, Dili on Friday.
He added that UNTL’s Center for Human Rights had produced teaching modules for use by the University and these modules were produced by six Timorese with support from the European Union in Timor-Leste.
“I thank the European Union (EU) on behalf of UNTL for its financial support which helped the Global Campus send six Timorese students to pursue Peace and Human Rights Studies at Asia Pacific Machidol University in Thailand from 2019 to 2021. Currently, they have returned and have conducted several studies in producing Human Rights Education modules based on their research findings for use in teaching at UNTL in the future,” he concluded.
Hopefully, the collaboration between the Center for Human Rights Education and the Global Campus will be enhanced to educate Timorese people to respect each other to promote democratization through human rights activists to promote peace and stability throughout Timor-Leste.
